Mediation is a way of resolving a dispute between two or more parties out of court. The mediation procedure is based on the principles of voluntariness, confidentiality, equality and mutual responsibilities of the parties. Typically, a third party, the mediator, assists the parties in negotiating a settlement. The task of the mediator is to help the parties in the conflict to hear each other, reach an understanding and find their own way out of the conflict.
